This is a collaboration with Rob Crapnell featuring two very different perspectives on Brisbane cityscapes.

This exhibition showcases my images of the city reflected in glass towers. A feature of this collection is a set that presents gothic heritage of St John's and St. Stephen's Cathedrals in a very different view.

My thanks to Michelle Bowden and Warrior Women for their support and the invitation to exhibit. 

Exhibition opened 8th of October and continues to the 4th of November.

Queensland Women's Week Photography

In 2016 Queensland will expand International Women’s Day celebrations into a week-long, state-wide series of events and activities called Queensland Women’s Week.The week will recognise and celebrate the achievements of all Queensland women, with activities taking place throughout the state’s urban, rural, regional and remote communities. These activities offer opportunities for women of all ages and linguistic and cultural backgrounds to join together in celebration.

International Women’s Day, held globally on 8 March each year, will be a highlight of Queensland Women’s Week. On that day, Queensland women join millions of others throughout the world to celebrate the economic, political and social achievements of women in the past, present and future.

As a contribution to this week of recognition and celebration I am publishing a selection of images I have taken ofQueensland Women.

As a community photographer I have taken my camera to political. cultural and community events. In researching this collection I have attempted to honour the diversity and presence of Women in Queensland.

Some of these faces have been photographed because of their political or public status. Many are women who have worked for justice and equity and our paths have crossed at rallies, campaigns and meetings. Some are women who I have captured because they twll a great story.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples are advised that this collection may include images of deceased people.They have been included with deep respect.

Clancestry 2015

Clancestry, a Celebration of Country is an annual week-long festival celebrating the arts and cultural practices of the world’s First Nations Peoples, with a particular focus on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders.

The festival draws on rich spiritual culture and provides a space to learn about, and connect with, clan groups across the country and the globe. In presenting performances, workshops, free events and conversations, the festival celebrates a diverse and stimulating mix of the traditional and contemporary.

Since the inaugural festival in 2013, Clancestry has become one of QPAC’s signature annual events, recognised for its collaboration and interactions between the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community, artists, industry and the public.

2015 Sony World Photography Awards

The 2015 Sony World Photography Awards started accepting entries last year, ushering in a months-long competition poised to unearth the best emerging and professional photographers around the globe. 

The Huffington Past has been  following the contest since last September, showcasing the best entries submitted in categories like travel, arts and culture, landscape, nature and wildlife, architecture, people and contemporary issues. You can view their selection of 35 of the best shortlisted photos here

Australian, Gina Anderson Hicks , Zol Straub and Melissa Little have been shortlisted. See their entries here.

If you are travelling a selection of the short-listed images will be exhibited at London’s historic Somerset House from 24 April — 10 May.

October 2014

Brisbane has been my home now for 22 years. It has been my home city for the longest continual period in my life. And in that time West End and South Brisbane on the Kurilpa Peninsula have been my home, workplace and preferred social venues.

My camera travels with me capturing friends, neighbours and life among the people who make up my community.

Today was something of an extraordinary opportunity to spend time atSanity Fair 2014 Brisbane Open House and West End Festival.

I am aware of the power of image and the duty of care I have as a photographer in recording people and their lives. I am also humbled by those who request as well as those who pose for my images or allow me to capture them.
