Welcome to my work as a Community Photographer. I approach my work as a form of social documentary, capturing the lives and faces of people. I also document social gatherings from political rallies to friends parties. I exhibit and share my work both online and in public space.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People are advised that this collection includes images of deceased persons. They are published with deep respect and gratitude for the opportunity to photograph them.

My album of People and Personalities explores the diversity of those who appear in front f my lens. These images feature portraits of those I have met in community and cultural settings from celebrities  to the suburban.

Neighbours on the Boundary Exhibition

This exhibition celebrates Neighbour Day 2017 on 26th March. It features people for whom Boundary Street is a neighbourhood of life, work, relaxation, shopping , celebration, and friendships. 

Boundary Street is a neighbourhood that embraces diversity. Shopfronts tell stories of the old and new cultures that have made a home here. Private homes and public space sit side by side. Street signs tell the histo ry of a colonial presence on ancient land of the Jagera and Turrbal peoples 

This exhibition is running conjunction with an online exhibition

Tony Robertson is a Brisbane photographer whose works in the tradition of social documentary and storytelling. His folio of images includes, political rallies, cultural celebrations and memorials for bereaved communities.

Queensland Women's Week Photography

In 2016 Queensland will expand International Women’s Day celebrations into a week-long, state-wide series of events and activities called Queensland Women’s Week.The week will recognise and celebrate the achievements of all Queensland women, with activities taking place throughout the state’s urban, rural, regional and remote communities. These activities offer opportunities for women of all ages and linguistic and cultural backgrounds to join together in celebration.

International Women’s Day, held globally on 8 March each year, will be a highlight of Queensland Women’s Week. On that day, Queensland women join millions of others throughout the world to celebrate the economic, political and social achievements of women in the past, present and future.

As a contribution to this week of recognition and celebration I am publishing a selection of images I have taken ofQueensland Women.

As a community photographer I have taken my camera to political. cultural and community events. In researching this collection I have attempted to honour the diversity and presence of Women in Queensland.

Some of these faces have been photographed because of their political or public status. Many are women who have worked for justice and equity and our paths have crossed at rallies, campaigns and meetings. Some are women who I have captured because they twll a great story.

2015 Sony World Photography Awards

The 2015 Sony World Photography Awards started accepting entries last year, ushering in a months-long competition poised to unearth the best emerging and professional photographers around the globe. 

The Huffington Past has been  following the contest since last September, showcasing the best entries submitted in categories like travel, arts and culture, landscape, nature and wildlife, architecture, people and contemporary issues. You can view their selection of 35 of the best shortlisted photos here

Australian, Gina Anderson Hicks , Zol Straub and Melissa Little have been shortlisted. See their entries here.

If you are travelling a selection of the short-listed images will be exhibited at London’s historic Somerset House from 24 April — 10 May.

Really honoured to see one of my photos used to promote a project that I support. M-YES is an exciting and innovative program providing pathways for young people from culturally diverse backgrounds.
